As I've been going through all my old LEGO blocks and visiting
Peeron.com, I suddenly realized why I have so many yellow bricks, so I
went ahead and tried to build the original LEGO castle.

After collecting all my pieces & following the instructions downloaded
from PICSL, I found I have a 99% complete original castle (not
including the men or horses, where the situation is far worse). It's
too bad nothing like the internet existed in 1985 when I was gifted all
this stuff from some kid; I never knew I even had the pieces to build
this set.

As far as the castle itself goes, it's 100% complete except for the
following:

1 yellow 1x2 hinge piece
1 black string for drawbridge
1 red flat 2x2 with rounded extension & hole for string
2 gray flat 4x6
2 gray flat 2x6
5 black inverted 1x2 slope
3 yellow 1x1 for crenel on tower
white flag
all stickers

For the knights & squires, all I actually have is the following:

3 blue men
2 white men
1 red man
1 black man
4 gray helmets with nose guards
2 green/yellow chevron shields
1 green/yellow chevron hauberk
2 plain gray (no sticker) hauberks
1 plain gray (no sticker) shield
2 red king's crown hauberks
1 yellow on blue hauberk
1 white cross on red shield hauberk
3 gray axes
3 gray lances
2 gray sword

And finally I have 2 horses I was able to build: 1 white and 1 black.

My question is, incomplete as this set is, is it worth anything? I find
myself enjoying the classic castle sets, and I doubt I'd actually do
much with this semi-complete set. I've seen complete versions of this
castle going for hundreds of dollars; of course I don't expect that but
would this bring in enough for me to get a few more of the "classic"
sets of the 1980's? Do people trade sets, or is it just typically eBay
auctions?

Thanks - I'm having trouble figuring out how to post something on
LUGNET. It says in the FAQ that you don't have to be a member to post
in the forums, but I can't find any way to actually initiate a post
there. Any pointers?

When you visit the Lugnet site at http://www.lugnet.com/ click on the link that
says "Newsgroups". Click on the newsgroyup you want to post a message to, in
this Castle. In the upper right corner, there will be an icon that says "New".
Click on this to post a new message. You wil have to visit the "News-Posting
Setup" link before you can post.
